Fighting Cancer Isn't Sexy: Part 18 - I breathe a sigh of relief, but it hurts like hell

This happened very fast. From the time I was diagnosed with cancer on my lung to the time of the operation was a blink of an eye. I had surgery scheduled for Monday (Today), but my surgeon's office called last week and said they had a cancellation for Friday. I took the opportunity to get the surgery done right away.

The surgery went well. I remember waking up from surgery in pain and writhing around a bit. It's never fun waking up. I always feel out of sorts and in pain. But soon enough, I was joking with the nurses in the recovery room and feeling so happy to have this done with.

I spent two nights in the Thoracic Surgery area. I had three amazing nurses take care of me. So kind, professional and caring. It made my stay there so much better. The surgeon removed my chest tube on the second day and things progressed well. The pain was an off and on problem. I don't like taking pain meds, but I took enough to get me through the nights. It hurts to breathe, but it's grtting better.

The surgeon tells me that he was able to remove the part of my lung that had the cancer on it. We'll keep an eye on it as we will with my whole body. I don't think cancer is done with me, but I will fight it every single time it attempts to attack me.

Huge thanks to my Mom for taking care of me again.  Thanks to my sisters and my baby Jen for all the love and support!

I'm home now, and resting. My Canines for Carroll page is keeping me busy and happy! Please donate and keep me smiling!
I love you all,
Geno
