Lauren Hildebrandt's scuba diving nightmare!

The one detail that you won't hear anywhere else is that I immediately jumped on a plane to offer Lauren mouth to mouth. That's the kind of guy that I am......

Pop singer Lauren “Hildy” Hildebrandt, a former finalist on NBC’s “FAME” with Debbie Allen, was vacationing on Grand Cayman Island last week when tragedy almost struck. The sexy “Boyshorts” songstress was taking some time off from promoting her new album “Not Really a Waitress” and went scuba diving in the open ocean. Four hours after the dive Hildy began to feel oddly faint with a strange tingling sensation in her hands and feet as well. She contacted her diving expert who advised her to go to the emergency room immediately.

Much to Hildy’s surprise, she had to spend over five hours in a decompression chamber, which made her feel dreadfully claustrophobic. Due to the late hour, Hildebrandt was incredibly tired but unable to get any sleep in the eerie cell.

Apparently, the oxygen tanks somehow spurred an excess of nitrogen air bubbles into Hildebrandt’s body due to her being somewhat dehydrated prior to the dive. The incident did not scare off Hildy from diving again though. Says the daredevil performer “I can’t wait for my next scuba trip. I’ll just drink a lot more water prior to diving next time!”

Hildebrandt is now back in Los Angeles recovering just fine and preparing for her “Not Really a Waitress” CD release party and tour kickoff show this June.
